About the product

Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic that is obtained from Streptomyces nursei. Gastrointestinal absorption of nystatin is insignificant. Most orally administered nystatin is passed unchanged in the stool. Nystatin is fungistatic and fungicidal in vitro against a variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi. Generally, resistance to nystatin does not develop during therapy.

Composition

Nystatin 100.000 IU / ml

Dose & Usage
  • Infants: The recommended dose is 1-2 ml, 4 times daily
  • Limited clinical studies in premature and low birth weight infant indicated that 1 ml 4 times daily is effective
  • Children and Adults: Dosage range 1-6 ml, 4 times daily 
  • The suspension should be retained in the mouth as long as possible before swallowing. In infant and young children, apply of one-half of dose in each side of mouth. The dosage regimen for oral suspension should be continued for at least 48 hours after symptoms have dissapeared.
